Lead For Ghana LBG is a mission-driven not-for-profit movement domiciled in Accra, Ghana with a strong conviction that education is the most powerful solution to all societal problems and the medium to provide equal opportunities. So we commit people, funds, and ideas to ensure that all children in Ghana can have access to an excellent education.

History

Lead For Ghana (LFG) was established by four founders with unique personal stories and a shared vision to improve education in Ghana. Daniel Dotse, who experienced the challenges faced by underserved children in Ghana, returned from the United States with a determination to provide quality education for all. Sadik Antwi Boampong recognized the shortcomings in Ghana's education system and joined forces with Daniel to address these issues. Carolina Ramirez, with her teaching experience in the United States, saw the global need for quality education and believed in LFG's potential to make a difference. Abdul Razak Musah, inspired by his own teaching experience, brought his expertise in education policy and management to LFG. Since its establishment in 2013, LFG has recruited and trained over 500 young leaders to teach in underserved schools in Ghana. These dedicated fellows have worked in challenging environments, improving education outcomes despite limited resources and difficult circumstances. LFG's founders remain actively involved in the organization, committed to their mission of promoting quality education as a fundamental right for all children in Ghana. The stories of LFG's founders highlight the belief that education can transform lives and communities. They demonstrate that with the right resources and support, young people can achieve great things. Through their collective efforts, LFG strives to create lasting change and empower the youth of Ghana to build a brighter future.

Governance

The purpose of the Lead For Ghana board is to ensure the development, sustainability, and expansion of a strong organization by practicing effective governance, setting strategic direction, fostering meaningful partnerships, and mobilizing financial resources. Their ultimate goal is to ensure that every child in Ghana has access to an excellent education.

  • Kojo is a seasoned investor and board leader with over 30 years of experience building and governing institutions across Africa, the United States, and Europe.

    He is the Founder and Managing Partner of Invictus Africa Group, a private investment holding company co-investing with global partners to scale high-impact businesses across Sub-Saharan Africa. He is also Founder and Managing Partner of Vibranium Capital Group, backing tech-enabled, high-growth companies and special situations across Africa.

    Kojo currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Ashburn Consulting (USA) and as Independent Director and Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee at Stanbic Investment Management Services, one of Ghana’s largest asset and pension managers. He also serves on multiple boards and investment committees spanning financial services, technology, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure.

    Previously, Kojo was Acting CEO and Managing Director of the Shanduka Group, where he helped grow the firm into a $1 billion private investment holding company, delivering strong returns while building enduring African enterprises. His board experience includes global brands such as Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, Alexander Forbes, Mondi, and Helios Towers.

    Kojo began his career in investment banking at Solomon Brothers and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in New York. He holds a BA in Economics (cum laude) from Georgetown University and an MBA from Harvard Business School, and previously served on Georgetown University’s Board of Regents.

    At Lead For Ghana, Kojo brings deep governance expertise, global perspective, and a strong belief in leadership as a catalyst for national transformation.

  • Nyaneba for more than twenty years has shaped some of the most important conversations in natural resource governance as a Senior Natural Resource Specialist at the World Bank. Her work, spanning land tenure reform, environmental sustainability, and natural resource management has helped transform policies that impact millions across Africa and other regions. She is known for bringing not just technical expertise, but clarity, empathy, and a deep understanding of the communities her work is meant to serve. Yet her story doesn’t end in policy rooms or global development spaces. Nyaneba is also the acclaimed author of Wade in the Water, a 2023 release from Amistad (HarperCollins) that has captured readers with its honesty, courage, and powerful storytelling. Through her writing, she brings forward histories and voices that challenge, illuminate, and inspire, mirroring the human-centered approach she takes in her development career. Her academic journey includes Amherst College, the University of Michigan, and Cornell University, institutions that helped shape her belief in the transformative power of education. That belief sits at the heart of her life’s work. Nyaneba joins Lead For Ghana at a moment of bold ambition. She brings a rare blend of rigor and imagination, global insight and grounded wisdom. Her voice will strengthen our mission, sharpen our strategy, and help us champion the next generation of Ghanaian leaders, leaders who will dream differently, act boldly, and change their communities from within.   • Emmanuel is a physician-leader shaping the future of healthcare across continents.

    He currently serves as Chief Medical Officer at ChristianaCare, where he leads clinical strategy and healthcare delivery at scale. Alongside this role, Emmanuel remains deeply committed to service in Ghana as an Attending Physician at Tema General Hospital, a position he has held for nearly a decade.

    Emmanuel brings a rare blend of clinical excellence, systems leadership, and global perspective. He has held senior leadership and teaching roles at Harvard Medical School, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Thomas Jefferson University, and previously advised global institutions through McKinsey & Company.

    His commitment to health equity extends to policy and advocacy. Emmanuel serves on the African Union’s High-Level Advisory Committee on Non-Communicable Diseases, Injuries, and Mental Health, and has led global efforts to advance care for underserved populations through the NCDI Poverty Network.

    He holds an MD from Harvard Medical School, an MBA from Harvard Business School, and an AB from Dartmouth College.

  • Ama believes impact should be intentional, measurable, and deeply human.

    With over two decades of global experience across Africa, Europe, and international development systems, Ama has built a career at the intersection of strategy, evidence, and leadership. Her work asks a simple but powerful question: How do we know lives are truly changing and how do we make that change last?

    Currently a Manager at the Shell Foundation, Ama leads work in impact strategy, measurement, and systems optimisation, helping organisations turn bold ambition into measurable outcomes. She brings clarity to complexity, designing monitoring and evaluation systems that don’t just report numbers, but tell stories of progress, dignity, and possibility. Her work with global partners ensures that impact is not assumed but proven.

    Before Shell Foundation, Ama held senior leadership roles across some of the world’s most respected development institutions, including Global Health Partnerships (THET), CARE, Crown Agents, HelpAge International, FHI 360, and the GRATIS Foundation. Across health systems, social protection, humanitarian response, and enterprise development, she has led global portfolios, advised governments and NGOs, and strengthened institutions to deliver at scale. From policy rooms to frontline programs, Ama understands how systems move and how to move them better.

    Ama holds an MBA in Leadership and Sustainability from the University of Cumbria and an MSc in SME Economics and Management from Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. But beyond titles and credentials, she is driven by a deep belief in people, especially those too often left out of the data and the decision-making.

  • Sadik is a global technology, operations, and innovation leader with over a decade of experience building and scaling complex systems at the highest level. His career spans cloud infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, and clean energy where precision, discipline, and leadership at scale are non-negotiable.

    He currently serves as Director of Datacenter Cloud Operations and Innovation at Microsoft, leading mission-critical cloud operations that support millions of users worldwide. Prior to this, Sadik was Head of Battery Operations at Tesla, where he oversaw high-impact manufacturing systems central to the global energy transition.

    Before Tesla, Sadik spent several years at Intel, holding senior leadership roles including Director of Business Operations & Chief of Staff and Engineering Manager. There, he led large, cross-functional teams, drove organizational transformation, and helped execute multi-billion-dollar business strategies while significantly improving quality, efficiency, and scale across global operations.

    Sadik’s foundation is equally global and grounded. He is a proud alumnus of Achimota, and holds degrees from MIT, Dartmouth College, Oxford University, and Cornell University. Deeply committed to leadership development and service, he believes in building pathways that enable young people in Ghana and across Africa to lead boldly, think systems-level, and shape the future with integrity.

  • Carolina is an education and social impact leader with nearly two decades of experience working at the intersection of equity, leadership development, and systems change across the U.S. and Africa.

    As Co-Founder and Board Member of Lead For Ghana, Carolina has played a foundational role in shaping the organization’s vision, culture, and programs since its inception. During her time as Chief Program Officer and Senior Director of Fellowship and Alumni Impact, she helped design and scale leadership pathways that strengthened schools, empowered educators, and delivered measurable outcomes for communities.

    Professionally, Carolina serves as a Senior Consultant at Community Wealth Partners, where she partners with mission-driven organizations to align strategy, organizational development, and equity-driven impact. Her prior experience includes serving as Director of Operations at The Equity Project (TEP) Charter School in New York City, a nationally recognized model for educational excellence and closing achievement gaps through bold investment in teachers.

    Carolina holds a Master’s degree in Sociology of Education from New York University and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Peace & Justice Studies from Tufts University. She brings a rare combination of strategic clarity, creative thinking, and deep commitment to equity to Lead For Ghana’s board—helping ensure the organization remains both visionary and grounded in results.

  • David is a visionary technologist, engineer, and leader who transforms complexity into clarity. With over 13 years at Goldman Sachs, he has built software systems that power global financial markets, pioneering innovations in messaging, microservices, and enterprise-scale architecture. At the heart of his work is a commitment to people mentoring, developing, and inspiring teams to reach their fullest potential.

    Before Goldman Sachs, David’s curiosity for understanding the world led him to Cornell University, where he earned a Master’s in Aerospace Engineering. There, he conducted groundbreaking research on fluid dynamics and Martian surface simulations, producing work recognized by the American Physical Society. His research fused precision, creativity, and problem-solving skills he now brings to every project he leads.

    David’s journey began at the University of Vermont, where he honed his engineering foundation and leadership skills, serving as Vice President of Tau Beta Pi and captain of the soccer club. From the labs of Cornell to the trading floors of New York, David has consistently combined technical brilliance with human-centered leadership.

    At Lead For Ghana, David channels his experience and vision to inspire the next generation of Ghanaian leaders. He embodies the principle that bold ideas, disciplined execution, and relentless curiosity can reshape systems, communities, and lives.

  • Abdul is a visionary leader in education, driven by a relentless commitment to excellence and impact. With over a decade of experience shaping academic outcomes in some of the most dynamic school systems in the United States, Abdul brings a unique blend of strategy, insight, and heart to every initiative he leads.

    Currently an Engagement Manager at Mass Insight Education & Research, Abdul designs and implements programs that elevate educational performance across schools, driving measurable results that empower students and educators alike. His journey reflects a pattern of transformation: from Director of Academics at YES Prep Public Schools, where he reimagined instructional strategies to maximize student success, to serving as Dean of Instruction and Instructional Excellence Coach at Houston ISD, where he mentored educators to reach their highest potential.

    Abdul began his path in education as a Teach For America Houston Corps Member, cultivating his deep belief that all students deserve access to exceptional learning opportunities. A scholar and a leader, he holds a Master’s in Educational Leadership and Administration from Lamar University and a BSc in Applied Math, Physics, and Economics from Arcadia University a rare combination that blends analytical precision with visionary thinking.

    Whether coaching boys’ soccer, guiding teachers, or transforming school systems, Abdul approaches every challenge with boldness, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to impact. At Lead For Ghana, he channels this experience to mentor, inspire, and empower the next generation of leaders, proving that ambitious vision coupled with relentless action can change lives and communities.

    Daniel Dotse is a scientist by training and a systems builder by calling.

    With a background in biomedical engineering and early career experience at Cornell University and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Daniel made a defining choice: to return home and work on one of Ghana’s most urgent challenges, access to opportunity and leadership in education.

    In 2014, he founded Lead For Ghana to prove that excellent education is possible for every child, regardless of where they are born. Under his leadership, the organization has grown into a national movement, developing principled leaders, strengthening public education systems, and expanding opportunity across communities.

    As CEO, Daniel brings rigor to vision and urgency to execution. He builds institutions designed to last anchored in evidence, equity, and belief in human potential. His work bridges science, policy, and social innovation, ensuring that leadership development translates into real, measurable impact for children and schools.

    Beyond Lead For Ghana, Daniel is the Founder and CEO of CapitalDoe, a social investment firm committed to creating 10 million meaningful jobs across Africa by 2050, and serves in advisory and board roles with organizations advancing education, inclusion, and systems change across the continent.

    Nana Akua Owusu-Obeng joined Lead For Ghana driven by her passion for creating positive change through education and leadership. She brings a wealth of financial expertise to support the organization’s mission.

    For Nana Akua, the alignment between her values and Lead For Ghana’s vision of developing ethical leaders and improving educational outcomes made joining the organization a natural choice. She believes that strong financial management is key to sustaining impactful initiatives, ensuring resources are channeled effectively to drive meaningful change.

    For Andrews Bonsu, joining Lead For Ghana is more than a career move — it’s a personal mission. Having experienced educational inequity firsthand, Andrews’ journey was shaped by the contrast between learning environments. When his father lost his job, he transitioned from a top-tier school to an underserved one, where resources and guidance were scarce. Later, through the generosity of the Cato family scholarship, he returned to a higher-grade school, witnessing the profound difference that access to quality education and inspiring teachers can make in a child’s life.

    Andrews holds a BSc in Business Administration from Ashesi University and is pursuing an Executive MBA at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. His passion for education equity aligns deeply with Lead For Ghana’s mission to ensure that every child, regardless of background, has access to excellent education.

    Her decision was inspired by a belief that education is the cornerstone of sustainable development and the fastest route to unlocking Africa’s vast potential. By working at the intersection of public and private partnerships, Tesi seeks to bridge resources, networks, and ideas that accelerate educational transformation and empower the next generation of leaders.

    Ebenezer Kobina Boamah is driven by an unshakable belief in the incredible potential of youth.
